Terms of Service
Last updated: July 3, 2026
1. Who we are, and what you're agreeing to
Service Area Scout is operated by Bold Coast Marketing Group (“we,” “us”), based in Maine, USA. By creating an account or purchasing a Scout Report you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service. Contact:support@serviceareascout.com.
2. What the service is
Service Area Scout sells software-generated Scout Reports: labeled, sourced estimates of local search demand for a service business in a specific market, plus related evidence (page-one competition, gaps, seasonality) and a white-label build brief. We also offer an optional done-for-you website build service (see clause 4).
3. No guarantee — the nature of estimates
Scout Reports present labeled, sourced estimates of search demand. They are not a guarantee of customers, leads, revenue, or search rankings, and they do not tell you a business is worth starting, that competition is “low,” or that you can rank easily. The ROI calculator runs entirely on assumptions you enter. Data comes from third-party providers and may be incomplete, delayed, or revised at the source. “No measurable volume” means a source returned nothing usable — not that nobody searches. The fulldisclaimeris part of these terms, and you accept a condensed version of it before every purchase.
4. We are also an agency — said plainly
Bold Coast Marketing Group builds websites for local service businesses. 100% of your Scout Report fee is credited toward a website build with us if you choose that path. The report is honest either way — a report that talks you out of a market is a success, not a missed sale — but you should know the report business and the build business have the same owner.
5. Accounts
You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. One organization per account in v1. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or abuse the service (clause 9).
6. Payment, pricing & taxes
Pay per report; the exact price is shown before anything runs. Payments are processed by Stripe (we never store card numbers). Applicable taxes may be added at checkout. Refunds are governed by the refund policy, which is part of these terms — including the automatic refund when a report fails to generate.
7. Your license to your report
A delivered Scout Report is yours to use for your business: read it, print it, share it with your team or the web shop you hire (that’s what the build brief is for). We keep ownership of the product itself — the software, templates, methodology, and report formats. Underlying third-party data remains subject to its providers’ rights.
8. Third-party data & sub-processors
Reports are built on third-party data sources and infrastructure (listed in theprivacy policy). Their availability and accuracy are outside our control; the provenance labels on every figure exist precisely so you can weigh them.
9. Acceptable use
Don’t scrape, bulk-extract, or resell the underlying data; don’t circumvent rate limits, purchase gates, or abuse controls; don’t use the service unlawfully. Reports are sold for your business use, not for redistribution as a dataset.
10. Warranties & liability
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the same extent, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for business decisions made on report data, or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service.
11. Changes
We may update the service and these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date, and continued use after a change is acceptance. We won’t weaken the honesty commitments in clause 3 — they are the product.
12. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, USA. Disputes belong in the state or federal courts located in Maine (small-claims court where eligible), and you and we each waive any right to participate in a class action to the extent permitted by law.
